The Evidence

If "Religion is the Opiate of the Masses," Science is the Opiate of the Intellectual Classes.

Do you really believe you're an Evolving Ape, or that God will Take Your Call? It's time to end this destructive conflict. It is the root cause of all of humanity's holy wars, holocausts, jihads, violent atheistic revolutions, and the radicalization of liberal vs. conservative politics.

The Real Chosen People

Will The Real Chosen People, Please Stand Up?

One of the basic truths found in the Bible, is that God was choosing a particular people, with whom He would have a personal relationship. These people are referred to as the “Chosen People.”  The three main denominations of biblical religion each claim this distinction.  The “Jews” hold the position that they are the Chosen People, and that when the Messiah comes, he will rebuild the temple, and restore them to their homeland in the Middle East.  Unwilling to wait for the Messiah; the “descendants” of the ancient Jews decided to get the United Nations to act in place of the tardy Messiah and restore them to “their homeland.” That turned the Middle East into a tinderbox.

Christianity claims that the Messiah has already come, and that because the Jews rejected Jesus, God made a New Covenant that included the gentiles; therefore, the Christians are the new Chosen People.

Islam teaches, that because both the Christians and Jews have failed to keep the faith, God called Mohammed, and sent him to call yet another Chosen People.

The picture one gets from all this, is that God is not only fickle, but desperate for someone to worship Him. The truth is none of these modern religions are even remotely comparable to the Chosen People of the Scriptures.

The first mention of a Chosen People is found in Deuteronomy. Moses, speaking to the Israelites, tells them that they are a Chosen People of God.

For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that (are) upon the face of the earth.
7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you (were) the fewest of all people:
8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God he (is) God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; Deut. 7:6-9.

For thou (art) a holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord has chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that (are) upon the earth.” Deut. 14:2,

These verses clearly identify the ancient Israelites as the chosen people. In addition, there are numerous other scriptures which state that God would keep the oath He swore to them, and never cast them off.

But thou, Israel, (art) my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
9 (Thou) whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou (art) my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. Is. 41:8-9. See also; I Ki. 3:8, Ps. 33:12, Ps. 105:6, Is. 43:10, 44:1, Rom. 9:4, Gal. 3:16, Heb. 13:20.

From these scriptures we learn that the ancient Israelites were the Chosen People of God. Notwithstanding, Christianity claims that because the Jews rejected Jesus, God made a New Covenant that included everyone on earth. According to Christian theologians, the New Covenant opened the door for anyone to “Choose to be Chosen” through belief in Messiah. There are many scriptures that disqualify this position.  First, it is not possible to “Choose to be Chosen.” Second, let us examine when and how the old covenant was broken.  In Exodus 32, we read that after coming out of Egypt, the Israelites became impatient while waiting for Moses to return from Mt. Sinai and built the golden calf.  God was angered by this breach of the covenant.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Go get thee down (from the mountain); for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted (themselves):
8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods O Israel, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
9 And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and behold, it (is) a stiffnecked people:
10 Now let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. Ex. 32:7-10. See also, Num. 14:12, Deut. 9:15-20, Ps. 106:23.

The importance of the statement in verse ten cannot be overstated. When the covenant was broken, the Lord didn’t tell Moses He would send him to call the heathens, but rather (like Noah) He would raise up a new people from his loins.  That would make sense.  Moses was a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; therefore, by creating a new chosen lineage from him, God would keep His promise to Abraham.  Fortunately for the Israelites, Moses interceded for them, and God’s wrath was calmed. See Ex.32:11-14.

The Lord swore a covenant (contract / agreement) that He would call His chosen people from the seed of Abraham.

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. Gen. 17:1-7. See also, Rom. 9:1-33.

By claiming that God sent the disciples of Jesus to the heathen, Christianity is accusing God of breaking His covenant with Abraham. If the God of Abraham were still dealing with men, that would be called blasphemy.

There are several scriptures which proclaim that as long as the sun, moon, and stars are in their appointed place, God will keep His oath to Abraham. I will quote one, and ask the reader to look up two others in the Bible.  After reading them, I think it will be obvious to all, precisely who the Chosen People were, and to whom the New Covenant was applicable.

Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day (that) I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was a husband unto them, saith the Lord.
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for light by day, (and) the ordinances of the moon and the stars for light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts (is) his name:
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, (then) the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
37 Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord.
38 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the city shall be built to the Lord from the tower of Han’-a-n-eel unto the gate of the corner.” Jer. 31:31-38.

In verse 31, God clearly states that the New Covenant is limited to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. This prophecy was fulfilled by Messiah at the Passover. See Mat.26:28, Mr.14:24, Luke 22:20.

In verses 33 & 34, God states that He will place the law in their hearts, and they would no longer need to be instructed by others. This was fulfilled by the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles on Pentecost.
See Acts 2, Hebrews 8:8-12, and 1 John. 2:27.

Verse 38 is fulfilled on the new earth prophesied in Revelation 21:1-27, Isaiah 65:17, Ezekiel 37:19-28, and Hebrews 8:8-12.

No matter how obvious the evidence, there will always be some religions who will claim that God has cast off the Israelites and made them the new Chosen People. I’m sure that anything additional I might say would be disregarded by them; therefore, I will end by quoting how God told Jeremiah to deal with people who make such false accusations.

Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the Lord hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? Thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
25 Thus saith the Lord; If my covenant be not with day and night, (and if) I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant (so) that I will not take (any) of his seed (to be) rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity (gathering) to return, and have mercy on them. Jer. 33:24-26. See also, II Ki. 21:7, I Chr. 28:4, II Chr. 33:7, Ps. 89:3-4, Ps. 132:11-14.

The claim by modern-day descendants of the ancient Jews to be the Chosen People, is equally ludicrous. For one thing, there’s a constant squabble among the many denominations of Judaism, each accusing the other of not being “real Jews.”  On that count they’re right.  When the Temple and Jerusalem were destroyed in AD70, the building of the Archives was burned to the ground. At that point, all the recorded lineages were lost; therefore, no one today can prove that they are the seed of Israel.  We have a decision to make.  Whom will we believe about the Chosen People, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, or the leaders of, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam? See the link: The Jews: Truth vs. Myth, on the Navigator.

The Gentiles
The Gentiles of the New Covenant are the descendants of Abraham from the ten lost tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel. They were not heathens. They were part of the Chosen People of God. The Scribes and Pharisees considered them to be “gentiles,” because they were not circumcised or registered in the temple archives. They used epithets like “foreskinners” to describe them and banned them from participation in the temple ceremonies. These unregistered descendants of Abraham were called “gentiles” in the New Covenant. The Apostles and Disciples were authorized to take the Good News of Salvation to these Israelites. Non-Israelites were not authorized to receive the Gospel.

In Summary:
The Chosen People of the Bible are one hundred and forty-four thousand people chosen from the lineage of ancient Israel. They are described in the book of Revelation:

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.

6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.

7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.

8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. Rev. 7:4-8.

These saints were chosen from the descendants of Abraham. They were sealed prior to the destruction of the Temple and the desolation of Jerusalem in a.d.70 and removed from the earth in the Rapture. They constitute the Kingdom (government) of God that will rule with Messiah in eternity. See Rev. 7 1-17, and The Rapture: Truth vs. Myth on the Navigator.

In Conclusion
The ancient Israelites were and remain, the Chosen People of God.

Attempts to relive the biblical and chronological history of ancient Israel through government or religion are extremely dangerous. They caused all of the holy wars and religious terrorism of modern history. The violent atheistic backlash against that religious violence has been equally disastrous.
